When choosing a digital camera for either yourself or a gift, it's easy to get confused. Here is a summary of features, what they mean and what they do. For even more information, visit Choosing a Digital Camera.

Megapixels - more megapixels allow for printing of larger pictures and better cropping abilities.

Optical Zoom - ability to get closer shots of birds, sports, etc.

Automatic - set to auto and the camera does the rest.

Auto Focus - a quick way of focusing.

Shutter Speed - use a camera with fast speeds for shootng fast moving objects such sports games.

ISO Settings - higheer ISO settings let you shoot in darker situations.

Camera Flashes/Lighting - auto flashes go on automatically. Longer flash ranges achieve better results.

Scene Modes - set the mode for the type of subject and the camera does the rest.

Aperture and Shutter Priority - allows for more controll. This is a more advanced feature to use.

LCD Screen - the larger, the better. The more pixels, the clearer the screen.

Lens - one of the most important aspects of a camera!

Nov 21, 2009, Uploading Photos to Facebook | Picasa or Folders?

You can upload photos to Facebook and create and album. There are two methods.

1. Upload through your Facebook application through folders that contain your pictures on your computer.

2. This method is for those of you who use Picasa and want to upload from there.

If you use Picasa and keep your pictures in folders you can use either method since Picasa takes its organization from your folders anyway.

This is for when you are creating albums on Facebook. If you just want to upload a photo to go with your post, when you click to write a post, you will see an icon (first one) right below. Click on this and it will lead you through the steps to upload.

If you're looking for a digital photo printer for yourself or even as a gift, Kodak has an interesting one to consider. It's the ESP 5250 All-in-One printer(print/copy/scan).

The price is $169.99 and it has some nice features. One in particular is its Wi-Fi capability where you can print wire free from any room.

Another is the cost of the ink. Black is $9.99 and the 5 color replacement is $14.99. I'd hate to tell you what I just paid for in cartridges for my Canon multifunction printer.

Photos and documents all resist water and stains too.

There actually IS an easy way to share photos online, rather than by email.

I know, you have all those photos in your camera...now what?

1. Create a folder on your desktop and name it. You can easily do this by right clicking anywhere on your desktop. Click New - Folder.2. Using your camera card or USB wire, transfer your pics to the new folder.3. Choose a photo sharing site and upload your pictures to it. Go here to see some of my suggested sites:Photo Sharing Sites

On the page that your photos appear, copy and paste the address into an email to your friends or family. Some sites practically do it for you.

The person can then just go to the site to view your pictures. Many allow you to even make them private.

Easy!

If you want to create a movie or slide show from your pictures, there is a great site (free!) where you can do this.

It's called Animoto.com

You can add lots of pics, add text and they supply you with music to choose from. This is a big plus since you then do not have to worry about licensing.
