Multifunction Inkjet Printers
Printer-Scanner-Copy-Fax All In One
Multifunction inkjet printers, which are also known as all-in-one-printers, are convenient because
they do many things in one machine. You can print, scan, copy, and sometimes even fax from one place.
I finally made the move to purchase one. I should have done it a long time ago. Prior to my purchase, I had a printer on a table, a fax machine on another table, and my scanner sat on the floor. In addition, the only option I had for printing was running one copy SLOWLY through my fax machine.
I know…pathetic. Oh, and not to mention all the wires.
Now, however, I have my multifunction inket printer sitting on a table…and that's it! I purchased the Canon MX 850 mulitfunction inkjet printer. Printer - Scanner- Fax - Copy.
Photo Printing
Look for an all-in-one-printer that has the same features for printing as a regular ink jet printer. The more ink tanks the better. If you are printing from your computer, it will work the same way. You should also be able to print directly from a memory card or connect a PictBridge compliant device such as a digital camera, camcorder or mobile phone, using a USB cable. When you print this way, you print directly from the printer without having to go through your computer.
Duplex printing is another feature that many multifunction printers have, where you can print on both sides of the paper.
Scanning
You can easily scan an image or text to your computer, saving them typically in jpeg, tiff, bitmap, or pdf formats to a file. Multifunction inkjet printers usually come with software that enables you to edit or print the scanned images also. Some have advanced settings, such as optimizing the image resolution.
Copying
With the Canon MX 850 multifunction printer, which I have, I can do a standard copy and choose as many copies as I like. There are also advanced options, such as creating a two-sided copy and collating the pages (so that they come out in the right order). There are additional options also.
Faxing
The faxing works just like a regular fax machine. You can purchase a machine with or without a fax. Check the space you have for a multi function printer before you make your purchase. Many are larger than standard printers.
Recommendations For Multifunction Inkjet Printers
Canon MX850
This is the machine that I purchased and I have no complaints. It comes with various software that you can use, but at the same time it is very easy to use.
Hewlett-Packard Officejet Pro L7680This machine offers 2 sided printing, scanner, copy and fax. It's a great photo printer too. You can get 35 black/white pages or 10 color pages printed in a minute. Its' resolution is 2400 x 4800 DPI. This is a $400 printer, but you can easily find it on sale.
Lexmark X7675This All-In-One printer currently costs around $120, and comes with wireless technology and 2 sided printing. It's a printer, scanner, copier and fax machine. DPI is 2400 x 4800, and it prints 27 color pages per minute.
Canon Pixma MP620
This is another good multifunction inkjet printer. It has 9600 x 2400 DPI and is wireless, suitable for both document and photo printing. It's a copier and scanner, but what is great about it is that not only can you print photos directly from your memory cards, but also preview and enhance images on its TFT display. It is also quite inexpensive, costing in the neighborhood of $110. It prints documents at the speed of 26 pages per minute and prints a high quality photo in 41 seconds.
