Video Websites For Uploading and Viewing

No matter what type of information you are looking for on the World Wide Web, video websites can offer it.

From factual information to entertaining content, the sky is the limit with websites of this type. There are many reasons why these websites are sweeping the Internet these days and are extremely popular. Whether it's YouTube videos, Google videos, Myspace videos...video sharing can be used for many different purposes. The following will highlight some of the more popular sites and show how they can benefit you.

Video Websites

When looking for videos, one of the first ones you are sure to come across is YouTube. YouTube is extremely popular with both posters and viewers. Many people know about it and use it throughout the world. It has a wide variety of videos on the playlist which appeals to many site visitors. If you are looking for a band video, either live or in studio, you can almost always find it on YouTube. On the other hand, if you are searching for live comedy which is simply good for a laugh, this too can be located on YouTube. YouTube also contains political dialogue videos along with those having factual information.

Revver is another popular video site which people make a stop at when checking out the latest and greatest videos online. Like YouTube, users will post their videos on Revver and the content is similar in nature, including funny videos, serious commentaries and music. There is also a Verizon Wireless V CAST playlist of videos accessible from both Revver and Verizon Wireless phones as well.

MSN has their own site where individuals can share their best videos. Some of the categories of videos which you will find posted by users on MSN include the following: news, sports, movies, music, factual, celebrity, cars and more. A lot of users like MSN as it is a well known name.

Another Internet mogul which offers videos is Google. (Google also owns YouTube). On Google's video website you can watch videos such as late breaking news stories or catch the latest music video by your favorite band. Again, like MSN, Google is a prominent name in the Internet community and Internet users, especially those who frequent Google often, use Google for both viewing and uploading videos.

Here is a list of popular video websites where you can view or post videos:

YouTube
BrightCove
PhotoBucket
DailyMotion
Myspace
Vimeo
Metacafe
Veoh
YahooVideo
Viddler
Videojug
5min
Howcast

How Video Websites Can Benefit You

Videos offer many benefits. By using a video site you can catch up on the latest news, enjoy your favorite music right from your computer, listen to a song which you haven't heard in years or simply relax for a few minutes by getting a good laugh or two from what you see online. In addition, these sites are free for both uploading and viewing. Almost anything you want to see or hear is right there at your fingertips.

You can also upload videos to promote your business or website. Whether it be in the credits or right on the video, there are many opportunities to show the name of your business and what it does.

Uploading Videos

Once you have created your videos, whether they be from photos or from a recording device (such as a camcorder, cell phone, etc.), you can then upload them to various video sites. You can place them on one site, such as YouTube. YouTube videos is the most popular video site. However, if you are using this method for business purposes, you want to get them on many video websites.

Time consuming? Yes, it is, but there is an easy solution.

Use one of the various sites that will upload your video(s) to many video websites at one time. I use is TubeMogul which offers a free option. (For more extensive features, there are paid versions, but I found the free one just fine.)

The only time consuming feature is when you first sign up. You must create accounts (if you don't already have them) at each of these video websites and then enter your username and password into TubeMogul. TubeMogul then saves all of this information so you never have to do it again.

Although there are a lot of video sites they can upload your videos to, many of them are a little picky. I found about five sites that were not problematic and just choose to upload to these. They are YouTube, Metacafe, Veoh, Yahoo Videos, Myspace, and DailyMotion.

If you are uploading without any commercial intent, you can also choose Blip.tv. If your videos are instructional, you might also select 5min. There are many others that you can explore to see if they are a right fit for your videos.

Once "Launch" your upload, TubeMogul keeps you up to date as to the status. You can also retrieve numerous, helpful statistics, such as how many views your videos are getting and from which sites.
